WHAT IS OSMOLALITY?
Osmolality is an expression of a medium's ability to either release or absorb water. Osmosis is the process by which water molecules move through a membrane from an area of high water concentration to an area of low concentration, to create balance. This is how plants absorb water, and how our skin absorbs moisture from creams. Some moisturizing products do not have optimal osmolality. They may moisturize in the short term, but in the long term they can draw water out of the skin cells, leading to dryness. For intimate health, osmolality is particularly important. In the genital area, the natural osmolality is 260-290.
