5 daily routines to improve your vaginal health

Selfcare is not just for the face. We have collected 5 daily habits that you can do to make your V extra happy. Try them out and see what works for you.

1. Don’t douche

Douching can harm the natural pH-balance in the vagina, making it dry and irritated. The vagina is filled with healthy bacteria which help stop infections and prohibit irritation.
When you douche you remove these good bacteria from the vagina you increase the risk of inflammation, vaginal dryness and burning.

2. Check your lubricants, fabric softener and tampons

Some of the products you use every day can have a big impact on your vaginal health. For example, make sure to use fabric softener and detergent without strong scent if you have a sensitive vagina.

If you’re experiencing dryness this can actually be a cause so choose your products carefully and only use products specifically made for sensitive skin to protect your precious V.

3. Wear breathable underwear

If you’re experiencing vaginal dryness or discomfort, make sure to have a look in your underwear drawer. What kind of panties you are wearing can make a huge difference for your V’s wellbeing.

The first thing to look at is the material of your underwear. We recommend you wear underwear made from cotton material that breathes. That is a kind act for your V that will help you feel better every day. Other things to keep in mind to avoid are:

  • Too tight underwear
  • Wet underwear for a longer period of time
  • Changing underwear too seldom (you need to change at least every day)

4. Stress less

Stress can affect our sex life and also our V. One reason for not feeling lubricated or excited about sex can be stress. If you’re experiencing a lot of stress in life overall, it effects your sex life and your skill to relax and enjoy yourself. It can be both physical stress because you have too much going on and don’t take time to recover but also emotional stress where you worry about things that haven’t happened yet.

If you have a lot going on, make sure to plan time for yourself to relax and feel good every day. This will help you relax with and if you have a partner - hopefully give you a better sex life. You can do this alone or together with your partner. Perhaps start give each other a massage to some calming music and light some candles to get your heartrate down and relaxing.

If you suffer from emotional stress, make sure you have someone to talk to about what worries you. Is it something you can share with your partner or friend to feel better? Sometimes we just need someone to listen to us. Other times you might want to talk to a therapist to get professional help. Make a habit of calming down and breathe for a few minutes every day and your V will thank you.

    5. Use products made for your vagina

The V is different from the rest of the body so make sure to use products made for sensitive vaginas. Some products, like soap, can contribute to dryness and disrupt the pH balance in your V.
