The sizeable REVIVE study, conducted on over 10 000 American women, assessed knowledge and experiences about vaginal dryness. According to the study, vaginal dryness is a very common state causing everyday discomfort for a huge amount of women.
There are an estimated 64 million postmenopausal women in The US and as many as 32 millions claim they are suffering from vaginal dryness symptoms.
As common as may be, vaginal dryness has been neglected in academic studies for a long time which is why the REVIVE study offers many new insights on the subject. More than half of the women said vaginal dryness had great impact on their sexual enjoyment.
Another dishearting finding from the study was that 12 % of the women without a partner said they did not seek for one because of their discomfort stemming from vaginal dryness.
